Why I Love Working with Neurodivergent Clients and Supervisees

As a therapist and supervisor, I’m passionate about working with neurodivergent clients and counsellors. Whether you’re autistic, have ADHD, dyslexia, or another form of neurodivergence, I offer a welcoming, affirming space where you can be yourself—without masking, without pressure to conform, and without judgement. Therapy and supervision should be a place where you feel understood and valued, and that’s exactly what I aim to provide.

Supporting Neurodivergent Clients in Therapy

Many neurodivergent adults come to therapy feeling exhausted by years of trying to fit into a neurotypical world (*I prefer to use the term neuro-normative). You might have struggled with burnout, anxiety, depression, sensory overload, or self-doubt—especially if you were late diagnosed or never received a diagnosis. In my work, I focus on helping you:

-Unmask and embrace your authentic self

-Understand your neurodivergent brain and how to work with it, rather than against it

-Develop strategies for managing overwhelm, relationships, and daily life

-Process past experiences, including the impact of masking, social rejection, or workplace challenges

-My approach is warm, accepting, and tailored to your needs. Whether you prefer direct communication, visual aids, or a more structured or flexible approach, we’ll find what works best for you.

Supervising Neurodivergent Counsellors and Therapists

I also love working with neurodivergent therapists and counselling supervisees. The therapy profession is still catching up when it comes to understanding neurodiversity, and many neurodivergent therapists feel they have to mask or fit into traditional expectations. In supervision, I provide a space where you can:

-Explore how your neurodivergence shapes your work as a therapist

-Find ways to work that suit your strengths, rather than forcing yourself into neurotypical (neuro-normative) norms

-Navigate professional challenges, including training, accreditation, and workplace dynamics

-Receive affirming, neurodiversity-friendly support from a supervisor who truly understands

-Some of the most insightful, empathetic, and skilled therapists I know are neurodivergent. I want to help you thrive in this profession in a way that feels sustainable and fulfilling.

A Collaborative, Neurodiversity-Affirming Approach

Whether you’re looking for therapy or supervision, I believe in working together to find what suits you best. You are the expert in your own experience, and my role is to support you, offer insight, and help you build a life or career that honours who you truly are.

Why I Love This Work

Simply put, I love working with neurodivergent people because you bring so much insight, depth, honesty, and creativity. Your way of thinking, experiencing the world, and engaging in therapy or supervision makes this work deeply rewarding. I learn just as much from my clients and supervisees as they do from me, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

If you’re looking for a neurodivergent-friendly therapist or supervisor, I’d love to hear from you. Get in touch to see how we can work together in a way that truly supports you.
